One participant reflected on his high school athletics days, acknowledging the decade that had passed since then.

Another explained his exercise routine as a balance to his dietary indulgences, aiming to maintain his freedom to eat as he pleases. CrossFit appeared to be a popular choice among the group, with one individual dedicating five to six days a week to it, alongside a day of weightlifting. Others mentioned running a couple of miles weekly, though with reservations about their comparative fitness to an FBI agent and concerns about the physical toll, including the fear of vomiting during the test.

The test itself required participants to score at least one point in each of four events, aiming for a cumulative score of twelve points to pass.

The lighthearted nature of their endeavor was evident as one joked about whether combating a criminal was part of the test. Despite the humor, the challenge was no small feat. Participants experienced a range of emotions and physical sensations, from initial confidence and strong starts to the humbling realization of their limits as fatigue set in.

Momentum and strategy played significant roles in their performances, with participants noting the importance of pacing and the psychological aspect of imagining high-stakes scenarios to boost their speed. Some faced the harsh reality of falling short of their goals, while others surpassed their expectations, albeit with acknowledgments of the room for improvement.

Physical discomfort was a common theme, with descriptions of entire bodies aching, “fire and sweat” encapsulating their exhaustive efforts, and even instances of nearly reaching the point of passing out. Despite these challenges, there were moments of satisfaction and personal achievement. Some were pleasantly surprised by their times and scores, while others were left contemplating what could have been with slight physical advantages.

The aftermath of the test sparked a mix of reflections. For some, it underscored the need for more serious commitment to physical fitness, while for others, it validated their current routines.

Many expressed a renewed motivation to set and exceed higher fitness goals, thanking the FBI for the indirect push towards self-improvement. Amidst aspirations to improve cardio and speed, there was a humorous nod to potential recruitment, with a participant assuring the FBI of his drug-free status and availability.
