What is the World Fitness Project?

| Feb 10, 2025 / 3 min read

The World Fitness Project is a new competitive fitness league spearheaded by Will Moorad that has been signing up many of the biggest names from CrossFit. Last week Laura Horvath was the final name added to the roster for the inaugural 2025 season.

How will the World Fitness Project work?

40 elite athletes have been recruited as World Fitness Project ‘Pro’ competitors. Each of those athletes will earn salaries believed to be worth up to $100,000 for participation, regardless of where they place in any of the three live events.

For those athletes who want to compete but have not been signed there will be online qualifiers for ‘challengers’. The top 10 male and female performers will qualify to compete with the pros and fight for a ‘pro card’ in 2026.

The end result will be 30 male athletes and 30 female athletes competing to win the ultimate prize.

When will the events take place?

  • Tour Event I: Indianapolis, Indiana, USA – May 9-11, 2025
  • Tour Event II: Phoenix-Mesa, Arizona, USA – August 29-31, 2025
  • World Fitness Finals: Copenhagen, Denmark – December 18-21, 2025

Will The World Fitness Project clash with the 2025 CrossFit Games?

The first tour event in Indianapolis in May will clash with the French throwdown, however apart from that there are no direct clashes with the CrossFit schedule.

What makes the World Fitness Project different?

The World Fitness Project is a unique season long competition that includes a league-style points system. Importantly for the athletes, professional contracts are included, offering a degree of financial predictability.

With a star-studded roster the World Fitness Project is set to become a must-see event in 2025. It will likely play a key role in how competitive fitness evolves in the next few years.
