Advancing Beyond the Open
For elite athletes, the Open serves as the first qualifying stage for the CrossFit Games. The top 1% of performers worldwide will advance to the In-Affiliate Semifinals, scheduled from May 1 to May 4, 2025.
This online competition requires athletes to complete workouts at a CrossFit affiliate. The top 12 athletes from this stage will secure spots at the 2025 CrossFit Games.
Additionally, athletes have the opportunity to qualify through In-Person Qualifying Events (IPQEs) held globally between April and June 2025. These events offer a set number of qualifying spots for the Games, providing multiple pathways for athletes to compete at the highest level.
Why Should People Sign Up?
Here are three compelling reasons why people can benefit from signing up for the CrossFit Open:
1. Motivation Through Measurable Progress
The Open gives athletes a structured way to benchmark their fitness annually. Whether you’re trying to beat your previous score, move from scaled to RX, or hit a new personal best, it provides clear and motivating goals that make your training more focused and purposeful.
2. Deeper Connection to the Community
Signing up for the Open connects you to a global network of athletes all taking on the same challenge. Locally, most gyms run Open-themed events or “Friday Night Lights” that create a fun, team-driven environment where you feel supported and inspired, regardless of skill level.
3. Growth Outside Your Comfort Zone
The Open introduces unexpected workouts and tough standards that often push people to attempt movements or weights they wouldn’t try otherwise. This challenge builds mental toughness, skill development, and confidence, often leading to breakthroughs that carry over into daily life and training.
