Tatum shared three photos on Instagram showing a 60 pound difference in his physique for various roles.
Best known as a ripped stripper in the Magic Mike series as well as several action roles, Channing Tatum has stated that he will avoid any future roles that require weight gain, writing that it’s simply too hard on his body and too hard to get the weight back off.
Now 44, Tatum got up to 235lbs for his role as the protagonist’s father in the movie Josephine. For comparison he shared a photo where he is more than 60lbs lighter at 172lbs. That was for his role in the upcoming movie Roofman, which is due for release towards the end of 2025.
That is a serious weight difference in a short period of time, but now he’s back at 205lbs and looking ready for another Magic Mike sequel.
In the post he expressed gratitude to the team that supported him through this journey, including his chef, nutritionist and trainer, saying “I couldn’t make these big swings in my weight without you guys.”
Having a team of people to help you lose and gain weight certainly helps but it’s still a big challenge, and seemingly one Tatum won’t be taking on again in future.
