With the CrossFit games 2025, approaching very soon in Albany New very soon in Albany, New York (1st and 3rd of august). The excitement is positively building every day, especially now as we know all the details of the second event. They certainly will challenge our competitors to the fullest extent of their strength and endurance.
Crossovers are making a return this year for a second time; it was first established as a feature of the games back 2022.When looking at the event 2 and event 1 it’s very clear that the pressure is only being accelerated upwards.
The list of movements and exercises consists of the following:
- 20 wall walks
- 10 DB shoulder-to-overhead
- 20 double-under crossovers
- 30 toes-to bars
- 20 double-under crossovers
- 10 Db shoulder-to-overhead
- 20 double-under crossovers
- 30 toes-to bars
- 20 double-under cross overs
- 10 DB shoulder-to-overhead
This all is capped at 10 minutes in total.
It has been stated that men and women will be using different weights for the dumbbells. The men will be using a one-hundred-pound dumbbell, whereas the women will use a seventy-pound dumbbell.
This order of movements and lifting will certainly test the competitors. There will be a few people to keep a lookout for, like Ricky Gerard or Mirjam von Rohr. Both of them did exceptionally at their events and competitions at the semifinals, so this will be very exciting to play out.
The first exercise that will start the event, is a rather tricky one. The wall walk is unique test of functional strength, coordination and balance. Mastering all three of these simultaneously, takes a considerable amount of practice. You are essentially being inverted and walking whilst trying to stay up with the full weight of your body against you. They all will have to do twenty of these, and then the rest of the exercises back-to-back across the floor.
Another rather unique and interesting exercise, which is repeated twice in the second event is the toes to bar, thirty of these will have to be completed. This exercise is a very dangerous one, lots of risk involved. However, if practiced often, the movement of pulling one’s self up and then hanging upside down by their toes and then repeating this again, many times.
This will be a revisiting event to watch in anticipation and the results will certainly be useful for highlighting key players in the CrossFit games.
