The World Fitness Project has suffered another big name withdrawal ahead of Tour Stop 2 in Mesa, Arizona, as Jeffrey Adler has confirmed he will not compete. The announcement comes less than two weeks after Tour Stop 1 champion Alex Gazan also withdrew due to injury.

Adler, ranked fourth in the 2025 WFP season standings with 460 points, said he has been managing a recurring injury and was advised by his medical team to step away from competition.

“I’m disappointed I won’t be able to participate at WFP Tour Stop 2,” said Adler. “I’ve been battling with an injury that comes and goes and doing everything I can to come back at 100 percent. For the time being I need to respect my body and make sure it holds up for the next few years. I appreciate the support the WFP team provided me and look forward to Copenhagen.”

WFP Director of Sport Will Moorad added: “This is unfortunate news, but we fully support Jeff and his team. Athlete health and wellness are always the top priority. We look forward to having him back in Copenhagen in December.”

Pro Division Shake-Up

Adler’s absence means Spain’s Dani Camacho will move into the Pro Division. Camacho, ranked 30th in the WFP standings, previously competed in the Pro Division at Tour Stop 1 in Indianapolis and had been entered in the Challenger Division for Mesa. His Challenger spot will be backfilled from the Mesa Online Challenger Qualifier.

Challenger Field Updates

The Challenger Division also sees changes, as Anthonee Yim has withdrawn due to injury. His place has been filled by CJ Gerald, a Phoenix-based athlete who trains at CrossFit Magna and placed 33rd in the Mesa Qualifier.

Impact on the Competition

“Jeff is one of the top men’s athletes in the world and, as he showed at Indianapolis, a serious contender for the championship title of our inaugural season,” said WFP Director of Operations Jackson Terry. “He will be missed, but the men’s field remains highly competitive and exciting to watch. This also creates a huge opportunity for the backfill athletes stepping into both divisions.”

With two headline athletes now out of Mesa, the WFP Pro Division will look very different from Indianapolis, setting the stage for new contenders to make a statement. The WFP Tour Stop 2 takes place in Mesa, Arizona, from August 29 to 31.
