Alexander Roncevic breaks Hunter McIntyre’s Men’s Pro HYROX Record

First HYROX Event

The first major of the HYROX season is going down in Hamburg, Germany and Alexander Roncevic has set a new standard in the sport with a world record time of 53:15, surpassing the 53:22 Hunter McIntyre set in Stockholm in 2023.

As always, world champion Tim Wenisch led from the start, but Roncevic quickly passed him and was first into the SkiErg. After finishing a disappointing 8th at the World Championships in Chicago this was a clear statement of intent from the former world champion. With a 3:33 he consolidated his lead going into the second run.

At the sled push Dylan Scott set the fastest time with a 2:11, putting him in second place. From this moment forward it would be between Scott and Roncevic for the win. Roncevic’s sled pull was 20 seconds faster but Scott clawed back time in the Burpee Broad Jumps and the running so they were neck and neck at the Row.

Dylan Scott exited the Row in first place with Roncevic on his heels and that is how they would stay through the remaining runs, the Farmer’s Carry and the Sandbag Lunges. Dylan Scott was setting a world record pace but Roncevic was seemingly content to track him and let it come down to the Wall Balls to decide the winner.

And that is exactly what happened. Dylan Scott arrived at the last workout station with a one-second lead but as they settled into the Wall Balls it became clear that Alex Roncevic had the faster cadence. Incredibly he went unbroken with zero no reps, finishing in a new world record of 53:15.

Dylan Scott came second in an excellent 53:38 with Hidde Weersma following with a personal best time of 54:26. The top three have all qualified for the world championships in Stockholm next year.

So after almost two years we have a new standard in the Men’s Pro Races thanks to Alexander Roncevic. I think with the level of performance we saw in Hamburg we won’t be waiting long until we see another world record.

See below for Alex’s world record splits:

Total time – 53:15

Average run pace – 3:52

1000m SkiErg – 3:33

Sled Push – 2:12

Sled Pull – 2:52

Burpee Broad Jumps – 2:31

1000m Row – 3:48

Farmer’s Carry – 1:24

Sandbag Lunges – 3:11
