Josh Van Zeeland breaks the 55-minute barrier in the men’s Pro at HYROX Seoul

First Pro win for Josh

Seoul saw a first-time winner in the Men’s Pro Race with Josh Van Zeeland pulling away from Elite 15 veteran James Kelly at the end to win in 54:57. Josh finished 3rd in the Men’s Pro race at the 2025 World Championships in Chicago and seems on the cusp of entering the Elite 15.

This was very much a two-horse race with Josh and James almost 9 minutes ahead of the third-placed athlete, Wataru Nakamura.

Josh’s strong running gave him the edge over JK in the end with his total run time of 26:53 beating Kelly’s 27:56. JK made back 36 seconds across the workouts, but in the end that wasn’t enough for the win.

Check out Josh’s splits below:

Running 1 – 02:40

Running 2 – 03:20

Running 3 – 03:25

Running 4 – 03:25

Running 5 – 03:30

Running 6 – 03:28

Running 7 – 03:26

Running 8 – 03:40

1000m Ski Erg – 03:45 (2nd)

50m Sled Push – 02:24 (6th)

50m Sled Pull – 03:46 (2nd)

80m Burpee Broad Jump – 02:57 (19th)

1000m Row – 03:46 (1st)

Farmer’s Carry – 01:27 (2nd)

100m Sandbag Lunges – 02:40 (9th)

Wall Balls – 03:54 (4th)

What immediately stands out is the consistency of the running. The very best HYROX athletes always seem to maintain strong running with relatively little variance. With still some room to improve in the workouts, Josh Van Zeeland looks like one to watch this season.
