HYROX Bordeaux saw a dominant performance by Sophia Parvizi Wayne in the Women’s Pro race, claiming the win in 1:02:16.

Sophia finished almost two and a half minutes ahead of the second-placed finisher and has now qualified for her first Elite 15 solo race at the upcoming Melbourne Major. Melbourne will be a busy event for Sophia given she has also qualified for the Elite 15 Doubles race with her partner Holly Archer.

In Bordeaux, Sophia recorded the fastest total run time (29:07) and the fastest lap (03:28). As you can see from her splits below she was also very consistent – a sign of a racer in total control:

Running 1 – 03:51

Running 2 – 03:28

Running 3 – 03:37

Running 4 – 03:32

Running 5 – 03:36

Running 6 – 03:38

Running 7 – 03:38

Running 8 – 03:51

At the workouts stations she recorded top 5 overall times in 6 of the 8 stations:

1000m Ski Erg – 04:10 (1st)

50m Sled Push – 02:39 (2nd)

50m Sled Pull – 03:45 (1st)

80m Burpee Broad Jump – 04:29 (35th)

1000m Row – 04:19 (2nd)

Farmer’s Carry – 01:36 (3rd)

100m Sandbag Lunges – 03:16 (2nd)

Wall Balls – 04:27 (6th)

The Wall Balls in particular represent a big improvement after previous struggles at that station.

On her performance Sophia told BOXROX

If I’m honest, I think the execution of my race wasn’t perfect. My runs were really good. I wasn’t particularly happy with quite a lot of station work. More probably a mental than a physical one for me on that race. but, I think ultimately the job was to get it done.

I’m super, super excited to be in a place where I can race competitively with people that have proven to be faster than me.

I’m a natural born competitor and I think the grid will suit my strengths really well and I’m really excited to come in as the underdog and have a lot of fun both solo and also with Holly, who is one of the best doubles partners I could have wished for.
