HYROX Bordeaux saw 392 competing in the Men’s Pro race with Spain’s Elite 15 athlete Aitor Lizarazu Hormilla claiming the win in 57:17.
French athlete Quentin Garel continued his rise with the second-place finish in 58:14.
The race was not without some controversy as Lizarazu Hormilla received a 15 second penalty for stepping on the front line during the sled pull. This is not clear at all in the race footage and has led to accusations of over-zealous judging against the Spaniard in order to favour the trailing French racers.
Communication also appears to have been poorly managed with no prior warning given to Lizarazu Hormilla before he received the penalty.
Despite the confusion and added pressure, Aitor ran an exceptional race. His running total was 27:40, good for 3rd overall and you can see his splits below:
- Running 1 – 03:42
- Running 2 – 03:11
- Running 3 – 03:25
- Running 4 – 03:27
- Running 5 – 03:25
- Running 6 – 03:20
- Running 7 – 03:26
- Running 8 – 03:47
In the workouts he was extremely consistent with top 10 overall finishes at 6 of the 8 stations.

Lizarazu Hormilla won the race by almost a minute and looks in great form with many big races to come this season.
