Individual athletes can prepare themselves to work the barbell in an elimination-style CrossFit competition for individual event 8. The workout? A Clean Ladder.
Although participants are expected to compete in some form of pure strength event – we have had them every year at the CrossFit Games – this time there is a small twist to it where the field of competition will get smaller with each round. Dave Castro revealed the details of individual event 8 for the 2024 CrossFit Games on his Instagram this weekend.
CrossFit Individual Event 8 is a Clean Ladder Elimination
On a notepad, Castro began explaining the Clean Ladder event individuals will go through at the 2024 CrossFit Games. This event will take place on right after the first cut programmed this year, where the playing field will go from 40 athletes to 30.
Here is what to expect:
Round 1
- 30 athletes
5 barbells with increasing weights:
1st barbell: 3 reps
2dn barbell: 2 reps
3rd-5th barbell: 1 rep
Top 20 fastest times advance to round 2.
Round 2
- 20 athletes
4 barbells with increasing weights:
1st barbell: 2 reps
2nd-4th barbell: 1 rep
Top 10 fastest times advance to round 3.
Round 3
- 10 athletes
3 barbells with increasing weights:
All barbells: 1 rep
What is unclear at this moment is the weight of each barbell athletes will have to lift. It is safe to assume that each round begins with a heavier weight than the previous round.
