Find out how to watch 24.2 CrossFit Open workout live announcement.
The first workout is in the past, we now look into the future of the CrossFit Open. As usual, on Thursday we will get to know what is the new workout people around the world will have to endure to see who is fitter.
The CrossFit Open, often simply called “the Open,” is a worldwide fitness competition and the first qualifying stage of the CrossFit Games. It’s essentially the largest fitness competition on Earth, inviting athletes of all levels, from beginners to elite competitors, to participate. The Open is typically held annually and marks the beginning of the official season that ultimately culminates in the Finals, known as the CrossFit Games.
Usually, the Open is announced by Dave Castro, however, that won’t be the case for 24.2. CrossFit announced that WWE world heavyweight champion Seth Rollins will be the MC this week while unveiling the movements.

24.2 CrossFit Open Athlete Match Up
During the first announcement, we saw 4 athletes competing side-by-side for the 24.1 workout announcement.
For 24.2, we go back to the typical CrossFit tradition with two elite athletes facing off in front of a crowd just minutes after the workout is announced.
Justin Medeiros vs Colten Mertens
The announcement is going to be made from the Shred Shed. If you don’t know where that is, don’t worry, most of us didn’t exactly know. The place is known as Justin Medeiros garage gym. See how he let it slip in his video below.
Justin Medeiros
Justin Medeiros is considered a rising star who hit a bump last year. His first Games appearance was in 2020 where he finished 3rd and took home the “Rookie of the Year” award.
The following year he won the title of Fittest Man on Earth and in 2022 he won back-to-back at the CrossFit Games, defending his title. It was only last year that Medeiros hit a bump and finished the Games at 13th place.

Competing at the Open since 2016, Medeiros’ best placement so far was in 2022 where he finished 3rd worldwide.
Colten Mertens
Colten Mertens is an up-and-coming star in CrossFit. At 24 years old, he has competed as an individual in the past three Games (and once as a team member in 2018). Last year was his best placement – 18th overall.
Although Mertens might not be a household name at the Games like Medeiros, he brings it down when it comes to the Open. His best finish worldwide was just last year when he finished 3rd worldwide – the year before he finished 4th and in 2021 he was 18th among his peers.

So this is a clash of the up-and-coming versus the redemption. Mertens vs Medeiros. Who are you cheering for?
The workout of the 24.2 CrossFit Open will be revealed live. A few minutes later, both Mertens and Medeiros go head-t-head in front of spectators around the globe to set the standards for CrossFit athletes to beat.
Ah, yes, one last thing about Colten Mertens. He’s coming in HOT. He just finished first worldwide in the Open after workout 24.1.
