Ever considered a high-altitude HYROX? At more than one mile high, Johannesburg offered a little bit of an extra challenge to those competing at the weekend.

In the Men’s Pro race Jake Dearden emerged victorious with a time of 1:02:17. This is more than 5 minutes slower than we’d typically expect from Jake, and he noted that racing at 6000ft (1,828 meters) is “no joke”.

What an experience. The best atmosphere and the best people.

Racing at 6000ft elevation is no joke though. One of the toughest races I’ve done, coming in with a time of 1 hour 2 minutes whilst feeling the fittest I’ve ever felt.

South Africa will always have a special place in my heart. The amazing people we’ve met and the friends we’ve made here are priceless.

Thank you to everyone who showed us some love and well done to everyone who competed!

Tomorrow we fly to Sydney to prepare for the next Hyrox Elite 15 major in 13 days time.

In the running Jake was 6th fastest overall with a total time of 30:45. For comparison, when he won the Men’s Pro in Bilbao earlier this year, his total run time was 28:22. Check out his splits from Johannesburg below:
