Jesus Olivares Squats a 425kg Triple

Legendary powerlifter Jesus Olivares has once again impressed the fitness community with his training results. Recently, he shared a story on Instagram featuring a reel in which he completed a massive 425 kg triple squat. During this exercise, he was supported by five spotters, as such a movement is risky even for a seasoned professional. Control of speed—both on the descent and ascent—is crucial for maintaining balance and proper stance. As he stepped away from the rack, he ensured a steady first rep before driving upwards with more speed.

In the clip, it’s clear that he made the necessary preparations to ensure safety and performance. He wore a weightlifting belt to protect his lower back, along with wrist wraps and knee sleeves for added stability. Olivares also mentioned in his caption that it had been a “long time” since he last hit his personal record, which was three months earlier. Achieving a new milestone like this requires patience, consistency, and practice to minimize the risk of injury.

He has been refining his squat technique by paying close attention to bar placement, positioning it lower on the upper part of his back. This adjustment improves overall form and provides more support during the initial unracking of the weight—often considered the most challenging phase, as the lifter transitions the full load from the rack onto their body.

Although Jesus Olivares qualified for the IPF World Games in Chengdu, China, he chose not to participate this year. The reasons for his withdrawal remain unknown, leaving room only for speculation.
