Justin Medeiros and Colten Mertens to Battle at CrossFit Open 24.2

The athletes competing head-to-head at the CrossFit Open 24.2 has been unveiled: two-time CrossFit Games champion Justin Medeiros and 4x Games athlete Colten Mertens. The showdown takes place on March 7^th.

CrossFit has revealed that Justin Medeiros and Colten Mertens are the two athletes selected to compete in a face-to-face style competition when the workout for the CrossFit Open 24.2 will be revealed live to the entire world at the same time.

Justin Medeiros

Justin Medeiros is considered a rising star who hit a bump last year. His first Games appearance was in 2020 where he finished 3^rd and took home the “Rookie of the Year” award.

The following year he won the title of Fittest Man on Earth and in 2022 he won back-to-back at the CrossFit Games, defending his title. It was only last year that Medeiros hit a bump and finished the Games at 13^th place.

Competing at the Open since 2016, Medeiros’ best placement so far was in 2022 where he finished 3^rd worldwide.

Colten Mertens

Colten Mertens is an up-and-coming star in CrossFit. At 24 years old, he has competed as an individual in the past three Games (and once as a team member in 2018). Last year was his best placement – 18^th overall.

Although Mertens might not be a household name at the Games like Medeiros, he brings it down when it comes to the Open. His best finish worldwide was just last year when he finished 3^rd worldwide – the year before he finished 4^th and in 2021 he was 18^th among his peers.

So this is a clash of the up-and-coming versus the redemption. Mertens vs Medeiros. Who are you cheering for?

The workout of the 24.2 CrossFit Open will be revealed live. A few minutes later, both Mertens and Medeiros go head-t-head in front of spectators around the globe to set the standards for CrossFit athletes to beat.
