Finishing in 58:56, Linda Meier took first place ahead of Joana Wietrzyk (59:17) and three-time champion Lauren Weeks (59:43).

Linda set a consistent pace throughout with her runs just over the 4-minute mark. After initially trailing Joana and Lauren she posted the fastest time in the sled pull with a 3:32, putting her right in contention. She consolidated her lead in the Farmer’s Carry with a 1:37 and went into the wall balls with a 25-second lead over Joana. That was enough of a gap and the smiling assassin of HYROX claimed her first world championship.

Last season Meier finished on the podium in all four major races and has long been on the brink of a victory at one of the big ones. Now, after dealing with illness, injury and a full-time desk job(!) she has reached the pinnacle of her sport.

For Joana Wietrzyk expectations were high coming into the race but being so new to the sport, and following a meteoric rise to the very top, it’s hard to imagine her not challenging for world titles for many years to come.

Meanwhile Lauren Weeks cemented her place as an all-time HYROX legend with another podium to go with her three world titles.
