The CrossFit community is shocked with the passing of Lazar Dukic, Serbian athlete of only 28 years old and brother of also Games competitor Luka Dukic. A GoFundMe page has been created to assist his family during this difficult time.

Lazar Dukic was unaccounted for during the swimming portion of the event 1 during the 2024 CrossFit Games. The athlete from Serbia was swimming close to first place Jelle Hoste, but drowned and, according to accounts from media reports, his body was taken from the lake hours later by the fire department of Fort Worth in Texas.
Lazar Dukic was competing at his 4th CrossFit Games in a row. He finished 9th in 2023 and 2021 and 8th in 2022. His brother, Luka Dukic, was also competing this year for the title of Fittest on Earth.
“Known for his kindness, humor, and supportive nature, Lazar brought a breath of fresh air wherever he went. Beyond his athletic achievements, Lazar was caring, humorous and relentlessly supported those around him. His warm, supportive nature and quick wit left a lasting impression on everyone he met.”

“To his girlfriend Anja, brother Luca, friends and family, we extend our deepest condolences. Lazar’s legacy of approaching life with kindness and humor will always be remembered.”
The GoFundMe page is “taking action to support his loved ones during this time.”
