The 2025 TYR Cup wrapped up with Team North America once again emerging victorious over Team World, securing back-to-back championships in this unique exhibition-style competition.

A Different Kind of Showdown

The TYR Cup brings together two teams of eight elite CrossFit athletes—four men and four women per side—representing North America and the rest of the world. Unlike the CrossFit Games, the competition focuses on team dynamics, strategy, and camaraderie. Athletes who typically compete individually take on events in mixed formats, making for a refreshing change of pace for both competitors and fans.

The event is also designed for a compact viewer experience. With multiple events happening in quick succession and shorter recovery windows, fans can enjoy the full weekend’s action in just a few hours of broadcast, streamed live on Loud & Live’s YouTube channel.

The Battle for the Cup

The weekend featured 11 scored events across multiple disciplines, from strength showcases to endurance challenges. Team World opened strong, taking points in the early rounds, but Team North America regrouped and built momentum heading into the final day.

By Sunday, North America had seized control of the competition, winning crucial events in succession and closing out the series. Their consistency and depth across the roster proved decisive, allowing them to edge out Team World in the overall standings.

Honoring Lazar Đukić

A highlight of the closing ceremony was the presentation of the Lazar Đukić MVP Award, honoring the late CrossFit athlete who was originally slated to compete in the TYR Cup’s inaugural edition. This year, the award went to Justin Medeiros, recognizing his standout performance and leadership over the course of the competition.

Looking Forward

Event organizers confirmed that the CrossFit Quarterfinals will return in 2026, with workout 26.3 set to be announced live at Wodapalooza Miami. The announcement signals growing collaboration between offseason competitions and CrossFit HQ, a positive step toward a more unified and engaging competitive season.

Why the TYR Cup Stands Out

While the TYR Cup is billed as an exhibition, its format has made it a fan favorite. By highlighting teamwork, strategy, and athlete personalities, it offers something distinct from other competitions on the CrossFit calendar.

With Team North America now two-for-two, the pressure is on Team World to regroup and challenge their rivals in future editions. For now, the Cup remains on home soil.
