Today the 18th CrossFit Games kicked off with Lake Day, Event 1 of the 2024 CrossFit Games.
The event went as follows:
Lake Day
For time:
3.5-mile run
800-metre swim
Men
- Jelle Hoste
- Brent Fikowski
- Roman Khrennikov
- Ricky Garard
- Saxon Panchik
Women
- Tia-Clair Toomey
- Bethany Flores
- Emily Rolfe
- Emma Tall
- Grace Walton
Adler looked strong on the run and was the first man into the water.
As the athletes entered the water, the sun was rising above the horizon directly in front of them. This made the sighting incredibly difficult. This was reflected across the field as many of the other athletes did not swim in a straight line towards the finish line.
Midway through the swim the defending champion switched to backstroke and breaststroke, showing how difficult the event actually was.
Dukic, Garard and Fikowski all tussled for position in the water. Dukic is a former water polo player, Fikowski boasts an impressive history of finishes in CrossFit Games swimming events. Adler had tough competition right on his heels.
Tia entered the water closely behind and instantly started overtaking the men.
The 2024 CrossFit Games is held this year at the Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, from August 8 to August 11. This new location marks a significant change as the event switched from its previous venue in Madison, Wisconsin.
