Tia-Clair Toomey-Orr Sets Her Sights on Torian Pro – But What About the CrossFit Games?

| Mar 29, 2025 / 3 min read

After recently stepping into the HYROX scene and immediately dominating, Tia-Clair Toomey-Orr has teased a potential return to CrossFit competition. The seven-time Fittest Woman on Earth and undisputed GOAT has kept fans guessing about her 2025 season plans, but her latest YouTube video finally offers a degree of insight.

From CrossFit GOAT to HYROX Contender

Toomey-Orr’s transition into HYROX has been incredibly impressive. Since teaming up with James Newbury for her debut in December, she’s rapidly climbed the ranks – even setting a world record alongside Joanna Wietrzyk in Doubles a couple of weeks ago. Competing in HYROX necessitates more focus on endurance and running though, and that has shifted her away from the barbell, a notable departure for someone whose strength has defined a generation of CrossFit competition.

Open Performance Sparks Questions

In this year’s CrossFit Open, Toomey-Orr finished 144th worldwide – her lowest placement since 2014, not counting her pregnancy in 2023 and her wrist injury in 2024. Even so, that performance lands her comfortably within the top 1%, meaning she’s eligible to qualify for the 2025 CrossFit Games.

Yet eligibility doesn’t equal commitment. In her video, Toomey-Orr admits she hasn’t touched a barbell since competing at the Rogue Invitational last November, having dedicated her training entirely to HYROX preparation.

2025 Plans? “A Little Unknown”

Towards the end of her video, Tia addressed the elephant in the room: will she compete at the CrossFit Games this year?

“My schedule is a little unknown only because I’ve really only planned up till (HYROX) World Champs,” she explained.

However, she did confirm two key appearances:

HYROX Atlanta in April

Torian Pro in May, one of the official In-Person Qualifying Events for the 2025 CrossFit Games season.

“I will be flying back to Australia for the Torian Pro and securing my spot for the CrossFit Games,” she said.

A Confident Return – Or Just a Cameo?

Just as we might be getting excited about a possible return to the Games floor, Toomey-Orr tempered expectations.

“Then the next stop will be Chicago HYROX, and as of now I’ve really only just planned till the Chicago World Champs, because that, really, at the start of the year, was the main priority.”

While Torian Pro holds personal significance – allowing her to compete in front of a home crowd – she was clear about not making any guarantees beyond June.

Will We See Her in Albany?

So, what does this mean for the CrossFit Games in Albany, New York?

Toomey-Orr’s Open performance and her confirmed appearance at Torian Pro make it very possible she could qualify. But whether she intends to compete at the Games remains to be seen.

For now, fans will have to wait – and watch. One thing’s certain: when Tia-Clair Toomey-Orr competes, the fitness world pays attention.
