“These whole two weeks of stress, nervousness and emotional incapacity – I didn’t know if I’d get the visa – my motivation and training haven’t been up to scratch.
“I didn’t know whether I’d be going to the Games, so the immediate will to train disappeared. I trained to comply but didn’t have any motivation. On top of that I was always alert to what was going on in my phone.”
The Reebok Spain sponsored athlete was meant to fly to the US the day his second interview took place. Luckily, he managed to delay his flight a day without too much hassle and few to the US on Thursday instead.

The reason his ESTA was denied the first time around was because last year he applied for a US tourist visa so he could travel and train in the country for longer than the ESTA would allow him to, which was denied to him.
When his tourist visa was denied, his ESTA also got cancelled and the sanction was still in place when he applied for one to attend the Games this year.
