Icelandic powerhouse and 2x Fittest Woman on Earth is hanging her CrossFit shoes. Katrin Davidsdottir announced she is retiring from professional CrossFit after 13 years competing.

Katrin Davidsdottir has announced on her Instagram that she will no longer be competing professionally as a CrossFit athlete. She has been to the CrossFit Games 10 times throughout her career.

“I’ve decided to retire from competing in crossfit.”

She posted an incredibly moving and heartfelt video on her handle account, with the help of the Buttery Bros, going through memorable moments in her career.

Davidsdottir main inspiration was Annie Thorisdottir, the first female athlete to have won the CrossFit Games twice. Then, they became close friends, and Davidsdottir achieved the same feat in 2016 winning back-to-back the title of Fittest Woman on Earth.

Earlier this year, the athlete began competing at Quarterfinals but had to pull out due to a back injury that she was dealing with her “entire career.”

Here is what she wrote in her “goodbye speech” on Instagram:

From the bottom of my heart: thank you 💫🫶🏼

That opening clip was the first time I ever wore the leader’s jersey, and I was still so unaware of the path that I was about to take. Somehow that moment turned into the most incredible 13 years & a career I am so proud of .. and what a journey it has been!

My people are my world—and it’s my family, my coaches, my best friends (that have turned into family), my teammates, and all of you who have supported me so tremendously, that have made this chapter of life the one that has filled me up the most ✨❤️

It was hard for me to find the right way to share my retirement & the words that could capture the entirety of how much this has all meant to me, but I knew I could ask @hebercannon & @marstonsawyers to assist me put my feelings into a visual & what an incredible ride down memory lane that was! This video says it all.

As this chapter of my life comes to a close, I can’t help but look back with a happy heart & an immense amount of gratitude. And as one door closes, it opens up my life to a world of new possibilities & I believe that the best is yet to come ✨🥂

With all my love,
