The third CrossFit In-Person Qualifying Event (IPQE) in 2025 will take place in Malaga this weekend.
Currently eight athletes have qualified for the Games through the Mayhem and Copa Sur IPQEs:
- Austin Hatfield
- Colten Mertens
- Henrique Moreira
- Kalyan Souza
- Fee Saghafi
- Abbie Domit
- Maria Quintero
- Luiza Marques
This weekend four more athletes will join them – here is everything you need to know.
- The Elite Division is huge!
Check out the full list of competitors.
The original plan was to have 20 men and 20 women in the elite individual division but this has been greatly extended and currently 62 men and 65 women are slated to start. Despite some high profile withdrawals in the last couple of days the field is absolutely stacked.
After finishing third at Mayhem, Roman Khrennikov is expected to put in a strong showing at WodLand. He can expect strong competition from the likes of Jonne Koski and Aniol Ekai.
On the women’s side elite competitors like Lucy Campbell, Karin Frey, and Linda Kessman will be fighting for their spot at the Games.
- The whole event will be live streamed
You can catch all the action on the B.Friendly YouTube channel. You can see all the live links on this page. For those of you in North America the action will begin very early on Friday the 25th – if you’re on Eastern Time you’ll need to tune in at 4.40am. If you miss anything it will be available on-demand.
- Time limits might be a factor
Given the size of the fields the time caps on each workout will be relatively brief. Event 1 (El Puente) will have the longest time cap at 20 minutes as competitors alternate sandbag squats with 800 meter runs.
20 Sandbag Squats
800 Run
15 Sandbag Squats
800 Run
10 Sandbag Squats
800 Run
SB: 200/150lb
The shortest time cap is just 7 minutes for Event 4 which is the weightlifting test where athletes will go for a one-rep max clean and jerk sequence.
Looks like we’re set for a great weekend of competition. We’ll keep you updated with all the results and highlights.
